TRACK-BY-TRACK: Heriot – World Collapse

Following on from their debut ‘Violence’ last year, Swindon doom crew Heriot are back with a serious bang as their new EP ‘World Collapse’ is ready to terrorise the metal and hardcore world. With influences including Black Sabbath, Deftones and Code Orange, the newcomers are sure to kick on from their performance at this years Bloodstock Festival – get to know the ins and outs of the record with this Track-By-Track rundown from the band themselves.

01.) MYRR

This song starts the EP and reflects on losing substance in life, diluted society, and we do the same and same again.

We have a video for ‘China Lake’ and it’ll be our next single. The lyrical focus is about “Leaders” and “Followers” who are corrupting the world we live in by being small minded, ignorant and weak. They are destroying the lives of less fortunate and making the majority suffer. We are losing people and places because of poor decisions higher up and we have no real control to convince them of their wrong actions.

The dictionary meaning for ‘Kleptocracy’ is: a government or state in which those in power exploit national resources and steal; rule by a thief or thieves. This song reflects on certain politicians who are destroying our country with piss poor decisions and right wing movements.

This track is written from the perspective of someone suffering from neglect and dishonour with no help from the world around him. Seeing more faults than most and suffering the consequence. How the world is full of corruption and the people on it are destructive by nature. The world is soon to be a grave to all that mistreat it.

‘World Collapse’ is out October 28th and you can pre-order it online digitally via the band’s BigCartel (here).
