TOUR PREVIEW: Asking Alexandria – The “From Death to Destiny” Tour 2014

Asking Alexandria haven’t had a headline UK tour since they catapulted into super-stardom. A support slot on the recent Bullet for My Valentine tour and a new found popularity in America means that the “From Death to Destiny” tour will surely see many sold out dates. Spanning 15 dates across 14 cities, you really don’t have an excuse to miss this one.

Origin: York, England
Label: Sumerian
Years active: 2008-present
# albums: 3
Members: Danny Worsnop (vocals, keyboards, programming); Ben Bruce (vocals, guitars, programming); Cameron Liddell (guitars); Sam Bettley (bass); James Cassells (drums)

Guitarist Ben Bruce: “We are coming home!!!! This October we will be doing our longest UK run of our careers. The BFMV tour was fucking awesome… but this October run is OUR run. A tour for us to share with our AA Family. A long set filled with songs from all three of our albums. Huge production, copious amounts of alcohol and rock ‘n fucking roll every night! We can’t wait to get back to the UK and see you all. Stay sexy Britain.”

Origin: Los Angeles, USA
Label: Epitaph
Years active: 2004-present
# albums: 4
Members: Jonathan Vigil (vocals); Aaron Brooks (vocals, guitars); Zach Johnson (guitars); Jim Riley (vocals, bass); Andrew Tkaczyk (drums, percussion)

Five years ago there’d be no way that you’d find The Ghost Inside on a tour like this, but times have changed and with a new-found embracing by the mainstream this is the sort of environment in which TGI will learn to thrive. Older material tends to be mainly ignored these days in favour of the new sound, but even a below-standard The Ghost Inside is better than many other bands out there.

Origin: Dallas, USA
Label: Rise
Years active: 2010-present
# albums: 2
Members: Andrew Velasquez (vocals); David Escamilla (vocals, guitars); Brandon Hoover (vocals, guitars); Bennett Vogelman (vocals, guitars); Hayden Tree (bass); Brent Taddie (drums)

Looking like Panic! at the Disco but sounding like Issues, there’s no doubting Crown the Empire’s talent. New album ‘The Resistance: Rise of the Runaways’ appears to have gone down well in the metalcore community and their career path will no doubt follow closely in Asking Alexandria’s footsteps in the coming years.

Origin: San Diego, USA
Label: Rise
Years active: 2010-present
# albums: 2
Members: Richard Rogers (clean vocals, guitars); Aaron Melzer (unclean vocals); Michael Sherman (guitars); Joe English (drums); Tim Trad (bass – live)

Secrets are yet to cement themselves as a common name in the metalcore/post-hardcore scene yet but there’s little wrong with their music. This is exactly the sort of tour they need to help boost their reputation. Make sure you get there for doors opening.
