TOP 10 ALBUMS OF 2020!

Well, to say 2020 has been an “odd year” would be a massive understatement, and though we’ve certainly been deprived of great gigs and festivals, we’ve been treated with plenty of great albums this year.

It’s been difficult to narrow down the best of the bunch, but we’ve pooled our thoughts together to provide you with what we truly believe to be the Top 10 Albums of 2020 along with our individual lists and picks.

10.) All Time Low – ‘Wake Up, Sunshine’

Rating:

What we said about it:
“‘Wake Up, Sunshine’ provides a breath of fresh air, combining this feeling of teenage summer vibes without ever coming across as cheesy or immature.”

9.) Four Year Strong – ‘Brain Pain’

Rating:

What we said about it:
“It feels like ‘Brain Pain’ is the record that has really redefined who Four Year Strong are becoming. Although it may have been half a decade since their last release, clearly this gap has lent itself perfectly to the record.”

8.) PVRIS – ‘Use Me’

Rating:

What we said about it:
“PVRIS have undergone a metamorphosis with their third record, ‘Use Me’, shedding their skin to reveal a shiny new set of scales that scream strength and eloquence.”

7.) Machine Gun Kelly – ‘Tickets To My Downfall’

Rating:

What we said about it:
“With ‘Tickets To My Downfall’, Machine Gun Kelly manages to move away from one genre to the other seamlessly.”

Review | Spotify | iTunes | Amazon

6.) Stand Atlantic – ‘Pink Elephant’

Rating:

What we said about it:
“‘Pink Elephant’ is contemporary pop-punk at its finest, but they’ve pushed themselves further, striving for better, and they have well and truly delivered.”

Review | Spotify | iTunes | Amazon

5.) Deftones – ‘Ohms’

Rating:

What we said about it:
“Deftones have astronomically high standards in the first place, but it just so happens that ‘Ohms’ sees them once again entering a new decade pulling one hell of a rabbit from out of the hat.”

4.) Creeper – ‘Sex, Death & The Infinite Void’

Rating:

What we said about it:
“The best bands always challenge what people thought they knew about them, and would never, ever be content with treading the same mediocrity-infused waters over and over again. Where Creeper go next is only known by the band themselves.”

3.) Hayley Williams – ‘Petals For Armor’

Rating:

What we said about it:
“As a debut solo project goes, ‘Petals For Armor’ is the perfect introduction to this new era of Hayley Williams, and one that acts as a vulnerable catharsis whilst seeing her in a number of ways be born anew.”

2.) Enter Shikari – ‘Nothing Is True & Everything Is Possible’

Rating:

What we said about it:
“Urgent, experimental, accessible and nuanced, Enter Shikari have created a record that matches their ongoing ambition, and maintains their reputation of rejecting stalemate with every song.”

1.) Loathe – ‘I Let It In And It Took Everything’

Rating:

What we said about it:
“‘I Let It In And It Took Everything’ is a massive leap from ‘The Cold Sun’, and you still feel that the best is yet to come from Loathe. Their innate ability to journey across many sounds and pull them off so effortlessly is simply stunning. When a myriad of bands that are clearly more inspired by music culture rather than music itself continue to pollute the airwaves, a band who feel limitless and so clearly want to incorporate a genuine love of all styles of music should be welcomed and supported with open arms. Loathe are on the precipice of becoming larger than life. Let it in, and let it take everything.”
