Things have been booming for Paramore since they dropped their third full-length ‘Brand New Eyes’. Tour after tour they’ve been keeping busy, and single after single they just keep getting more and more of the spotlight. Franklin’s pop-punk heroes new single ‘Careful’ is one of their strongest pieces to date, and is a great indication of how progression along the timeline has worked in their favour.
The album’s opener and fourth single lifted from it begins with a tumour like swell in volume before exploding into (what is within Paramore standards) a heavy frenzy of guitars before Hayley Williams‘ distinctive vocals come into play.
‘Careful’ shows her vocals at their fullest potential more than any single before it, and digs the chorus hook “You can’t be too careful anymore” far past your ears and deep into your brain. It’s not just Hayley who should be on a pedestal here though, guitarists Josh Farro and Taylor York show an intricacy rarely found from them before, and Zac Farro’s drum work unveils a level of skill far beyond his years.
Paramore aren’t going anywhere soon, except higher and higher in the ranks of rock and pop-punk heroes. ‘Careful’ is evidence that with age they’re only getting better.
