After a decade as a part of the band, Volumes have reportedly removed founding member and vocalist Gus Farias from the band for reasons that he is citing as “personal”.
Farias shared the news himself via a short Instagram video, stating his removal from the band and his intentions to now focus on his solo project, Yung Yogi.
You can check out his full statement below.
“I just want to take this time to say thank you so much for the last ten years of touring. It was amazing. I had a great time. It was a beautiful, beautiful ten years. I remember starting Volumes with my little brother and my old guitar player from my old band. It was incredible.
I just want to make it clear that I did not quit. I love being in a band. I got kicked out for personal bullshit, which really is bullshit. I’m gonna be the bigger man and not air out business like that. I got a check, I secured my royalties. I’m out. I’m putting me first. I’m putting everything that I’ve got into Yogi. I know what it took to get Volumes to where it was at ’cause I had a big, big, big, big part in doing it and I’mma do it again with my solo project.”
At the time of writing, there’s no statement from the remainder of Volumes directly regarding the removal of Gus Farias, though his brother Diego Farias is still a member.
More details will be confirmed as it develops.
