After confirming an indefinite hiatus back in 2012, disbanding in 2013 following a 12-date farewell tour and releasing their ‘Tired Violence’ DVD documenting this final tour last year, post-hardcore favourites Underoath have announced that they have officially reunited. Vocalist Spencer Chamberlain and drummer Aaron Gillespie confirmed the news in a recent interview with AltPress magazine.
Though right now the only confirmed date is at Self Help Fest next year, the band hope to play more shows, but writing new music isn’t on the cards right now. During the interview, Chamberlain commented the following:
“I want to leave things open-ended. I don’t think we’re ever going to be a full-time band again, but I don’t like the idea of being so closed off to things. That’s what was so hard about the farewell tour, because it could’ve been that we were going on an indefinite hiatus. And I think now, the idea is the hiatus is off. Are we writing? I don’t know until we get in a room together. Are we going to do another tour? I don’t know.”

Any news regarding further tour dates, including any shows within the UK, or plans to write and release a new track, EP, or album will be confirmed over the coming months.
For now, the countdown on the band’s website is still ticking, and will expire this Monday (August 24th 2015). You can check it out here.
