British metalcore outfit TheCityIsOurs have announced that they have parted ways with their vocalist, Sam Stolliday.

The news was confirmed via the band’s social media channels, with a statement from Stolliday explaining his reasons to step down from the group. You can read it in full below.

“I have re-typed this about 13 times and don’t feel I’ll ever get this right or cover everything going on in my thoughts, so here goes nothing.

I am sorry to those who feel I have let them down.
I needed to make a choice that I feel and knew would benefit myself mentally and physically in the years to come, it’s a decision I did not take lightly and spent far too long suppressing & thinking it’ll fix itself.

Nevertheless, I feel my time with the band is at an end.
I am so proud to have been a part of TCIO and won’t regret a single second of it.

We achieved things I never dreamed of growing up and I couldn’t love or respect the guys anymore than I already do. I truly wish them all the success they deserve. They really are the strongest people I know with the biggest hearts, unbelievable talent and you would be doing the right thing supporting them to the top!

Thank you to everyone who has supported me with this dream. To everyone who pushed me, to my family and friends for everything they provided along the way and to ALL of you, the fans for your love/support of the music.

All my love for those who helped shape me, all my respect to those I met along the way and made memories with and finally, all my apologies for my path ending so soon in this way. This is me signing off for now and remember when you’re in your darkest times, saying “I’m fine” is just a bandaid for your mental health which is the most important thing in life… don’t become your own worst enemy.

See you around…

Sam x”

The remaining members of the band also issued a short statement on the situation, which can be read below.

“We’d like to thank Sam for his invaluable contribution to THECITYISOURS.

He gave us a voice & for that we will be eternally grateful. You will always be a member of the TCIO family.

Please bare with us as we assess our next steps.

Witness.”

At the time of writing, there’s no word on a replacement frontman for the band and/or if open auditions are expected to be held.

More details will be confirmed as they develop.
