Following the announcement of drummer Luke Holland‘s departure from Arizona based metalcore outfit The Word Alive in November to allow him to focus on other musical projects, the band have now confirmed that they have enlisted Matt Horn to fill his space behind the kit for their forthcoming tour commitments.
Horn has worked with the band previously, having performed as a session drummer on the band’s sophomore record ‘Life Cycles’ back in 2012. He has also worked alongside the band as their drum tech for a number of years.
You can read a statement from the band below, along with Horn performing a playthrough of their track ‘Sellout’ from their latest record, ‘Dark Matter’:
“A new chapter in The Word Alive’s story has begun. We’ll be turning over the touring drummer duties to our long time friend Matt Horn. Those who have followed our journey for years know him as our long time drum tech and the performer on our album ‘Life Cycles’. We believed after much deliberation that the best path for us, was to keep things in the TWA family. Matt has been one of our biggest supporters and it is our honor to give him this well deserved opportunity! Enjoy this play through of ‘Sellout’ off of our latest album ‘Dark Matter’ and come welcome Matt to the family personally at a show nearest you in 2017!
– Telle, Tony, Zack, Daniel”
At the time of writing, it’s unclear whether or not Horn‘s drumming contributions with the band will extend beyond their current touring commitments and become a permanent position within the line-up of the band.
The band’s latest full-length album, ‘Dark Matter’, is available now through Fearless Records.
