According to a report from celebrity and entertainment news publication TMZ (here), it is alleged that The Used have been forced to file a restraining order against their former guitarist, Justin Shekoski.
The band had reportedly fired Shekoski earlier this year due to “artistic differences.”
In the reports allegedly obtained by TMZ, it is said that Shekoski has threatened varying degrees and intent of violence against his ex-bandmates, and has even threatened to “fucking hang [him]self in the middle of a show.”
It is also reported that Shekoski has said that retaliation “is the only way to get justice” in one text message and in another he says, “those fucks ruined my life and stole all of my creative work.”
Apparently, The Used have been granted protection following the filed restraining order, and Shekoski is required to stay at least 100 yards away from all members of the group and any place that they work, including any venues they’re performing at.
Shekoski joined the band in 2015, and wrote and performed on The Used‘s recently released full-length record, ‘The Canyon’, and also appears on their 2016 live album, ‘Live & Acoustic At The Palace’. He’s also known for being the former lead guitarist and backing vocalist for Saosin.
Following their evidently somewhat hostile departure from one another, it’s reported that Joey Bradford of the band Hell Or Highwater will act as their touring guitarist for the foreseeable future.
