After ten whole years together as a band, during which time they’ve released a total of four EPs, four full-length albums, and have toured a huge amount of countries across the globe, Arizona based pop-rockers The Summer Set have announced that effective immediately the band will be on an indefinite hiatus.
The news coincides with the confirmation that the band’s vocalist, Brian Dales, has decided to part way with the band to “pursue his own aspirations.” Dales has since posted a statement on the situation from his point of view via his personal Tumblr blog (here).
The band issued a statement confirming their decision to go onto indefinite hiatus via their social channels. You can read the statement in full below.
We know that many of you have been wondering what has been going on with The Summer Set for some time now. We sincerely appreciate the concern, and thank you for your patience while we have take the time to figure that out ourselves.
When we first started this band, our goals were simple: to make music, buy a fifteen-passenger van, and play shows anywhere we possibly could. Over the years, we were fortunate enough to watch it grow. Shows got bigg, fans turned into friends, and together, we built something that we could have never imagined. For that, we are truly grateful.
Sadly, a decision has been made, and The Summer Set will be going on hiatus indefnitely. Over the last year, Brian has decided to leave the band in order to pursue his own aspirations. We wish him the best in his future endeavors.
We cannot thank you enough for the gift you have given us over the past ten years. This has been the adventure of a lifetime, and it is all because of you. Thank you for letting us into your lives. Thank you for making our dreams come true. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.”
The band’s latest full-length record, ‘Stories For Monday’, is available now through Fearless Records.
