Des Moines, Iowa based heavy metal nine-piece Slipknot have officially debuted at the #1 spot on the UK Album Chart with their sixth full-length studio album, ‘We Are Not Your Kind’.
The band bested British singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran and his album ‘No.6 Collaborations Project’ to claim the top spot on the chart by acquiring over 31,800 chart sales, which was made up of 25,500 physical sales, 5,000 downloads, and 4,300 streaming equivalent album sales.
The band’s frontman Corey Taylor also took to Twitter himself to share the news.
“Don’t speak your mind.” “Are you even relevant anymore?” “All you do is scream in a mask.” “You made this band too soft.”
#1 album in several countries & counting. Thank you to the Maggots worldwide.
And don’t listen to ANY voices but your OWN. It’s the only one that matters.

As a result, ‘We Are Not Your Kind’ marks the band’s second record in their careers to hit the #1 spot on the UK Album Chart, their last being 2001’s ‘Iowa’.
It also marks itself as the fifth metal album in the past decade to claim such an achievement, with the previous four being ‘The Book Of Souls’ by Iron Maiden in 2015, ‘Hail To The King’ by Avenged Sevenfold and ’13’ by Black Sabbath in 2013, and ‘The Final Frontier’ by Iron Maiden in 2010.
The band’s sixth full-length album, ‘We Are Not Your Kind’, is available now through Roadrunner Records.
