It has been nearly four years now since masked nine-piece metal legends Slipknot have released any new music, their latest record being 2014’s ‘.5: The Gray Chapter’, but it appears they’re finally working on some more.
Some hints, tips, and cryptic teases during some recent interviews have been shared lately to give us an insight in the direction they’re going. One of which was with vocalist Corey Taylor, who has said that these could be some of the darkest lyrics that he’s penned in a long time.
“It’s been a heavy couple of years for me personally. So I’m working out some things, personally for myself, which has been great. I’ve been able to kind of grab hold of some of the depression that I’ve been fighting and kind of formulate the way that I want to describe it. So some of these lyrics are, to me, some of the best I’ve ever written. It’s probably the most I’ve shared in years.”
It now seems that the band are back in the studio and recording some new material.
At the time of writing, guitarist Jim Root and bassist Alessandro Venturella have shared images of them in the studio undoubtedly laying some new tracks down before the remaining members join them in piecing it all together.
More details surrounding the progress of the band’s sixth album, which we anticipate will see a release before the summer of 2019, will be confirmed as they develop.
