It has been confirmed today that George Christie, guitarist for London based melodic metalcore outfit Shields, has tragically passed away.
The news of his passing was shared by the band earlier today (February 1st 2018) in a heart-breaking statement that was made through their official Facebook page.
The full statement issued by the band reads as follows.
“There is no easy way to say this.
On the 31st of January our guitarist George Christie took his own life. He was the most empathetic, kind and generous person we ever met in our lives and we were lucky to call him our best friend and fellow band member.
We don’t want to disclose any more information about his passing out of respect for his family, please don’t ask. Those who need to know, know.
We will have more to say once time has passed.
Sam, Joe, Alex, Lawrence.”
We here at DEAD PRESS! extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to George Christie‘s family, friends, band mates, and loved ones at this difficult time.
