We regret to report that Sean Kennedy, bassist for Deez Nuts and formerly for I Killed The Prom Queen, has died at the age of 35.
The news of his tragic passing was confirmed online by a post made by former bandmate and I Killed The Prom Queen vocalist, Michael Crafter.
“For years we stood side by side on stage or in band photos. We slept on floors, in vans, planes and some how managed to tour the world. Time went way to fast. We experienced highs and lows on the road and after all we went through, you will always be my friend. As the years passed us by I’m glad we’ve always been there for each other.
When I called you last week I didn’t think it would be the last. I wish I could say goodbye.
Love and will always miss you mate.
Rest In Peace
Sean Kennedy 24/6/1985 – 23/2/2021”
Sean Kennedy joined I Killed The Prom Queen in 2003, and featured on their first two albums (2003’s ‘When Goodbye Means Forever…’ and 2006’s ‘Music For The Recently Deceased’) before they disbanded in 2007. He returned to the band in 2008 for their brief reunion that year.
In 2008 he joined Deez Nuts as a touring member and left in 2009. He then resumed his position in I Killed The Prom Queen when they returned in 2011 before stepping down in 2013.
He later returned to Deez Nuts in 2014 as a full-time member, and performed on their three latest records (2015’s ‘Word Is Bond’, 2017’s ‘Binge & Purgatory’, and 2019’s ‘You Got Me Fucked Up’).
At the time of writing, no cause of death has been publicly confirmed.
We here at DEAD PRESS! extend our deepest sympathies to Sean Kennedy‘s family, friends, and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.
