With the release of their new album ‘Nova’ just mere hours away, Polar have shared some less positive news in that their long-time drummer, Nick Jones, will be stepping down from the band.
The band confirmed the news of his departure in a joint statement between both the remaining members and Jones himself, which you can read below.
“It’s with a sad heart that we’re announcing our drummer Nick has left Polar. There’s no real big story, any argument or resentment, just a dude who wants to go on and try something new with his life. Here’s Nick with his goodbye:
Hey all, Nick here.
It’s with a very strange, nervous but excited feeling that I am announcing my exit from Polar. Nothing I can write can express how much this band changed my life, the places I’ve been, the people I have met, the whole experience has shaped me and the way I live my life. Polar was my life for 10 years, I just feel that now I want to get on with the next 10 years doing life a little differently. I’m really excited to have a home life now and also travel to some places I have not yet been and just live a “normal” life. There is no real reason for me leaving I just feel like my time has come.
The boys in this band are and will continue to be my best friends, the love I have for them is unconditional. Times we have shared, shows we have played, the miles we have travelled and beers we have drunk will be in my heart forever and no one can take that away from me. I love you all very much ❤
I’d like to say thank you to anyone that has ever had anything to do with Polar, you are all very much appreciated and loved. And to all the bands that we shared a stage with, we really did make some incredible memories and I thank you all for that.
The fans, WOW, there really is nothing I can say but THANK YOU SO MUCH! Without you we were nothing, thanks for hanging out at shows and supporting our music. The fans are and always will be Polar’s number 1 priority, we love you all.
There it is.. soppy shit over!! New album ‘Nova’ dropping this Friday and the last album that I will have worked on with the lads. I will be at the home town release show this Friday celebrating/crying so come say hey. Please pick up a copy of Nova and support this band, I wish them nothing but success and can’t wait to see what you all think… it’s a banger. Thank you all for supporting me and for the good times, so for now, peace and love, it’s been unforgettable. ✌??
To Nick from us, We absolutely love you. We wish you everything you deserve and more in the next chapter of your life. See you at the bar x
As for the future, everything in Polar is continuing as normal, we might even have someone new to introduce you to some time soon…”
More details surrounding a replacement full-time drummer will be confirmed as it develops.
The band’s fourth studio album, ‘Nova’, is set for release on April 5th 2019 through Arising Empire/Nuclear Blast Records.
