On last year’s ‘In Moment // In Memory’, Southampton’s Our Hollow, Our Home tackled the processes of grief of losing a loved one, something echoed in their new video for ‘Parting Gift’.
All proceeds from digital sales of the single will be donated towards the Macmillan Cancer Support charity, an organisation that helped guitarist/vocalist Tobias Young and his family through some difficult times.
“‘Parting Gift’ is probably as far away from a ‘standard’ Our Hollow, Our Home song as it could get, but I’d also argue it’s probably one of the most important songs we have ever written. Since releasing our album, ‘In Moment // In Memory’, the band and I have been enormously touched by the countless messages from our fans all over the world sharing their stories with us, and telling us how they found solace with the record and in particular this song.
This Macmillan Coffee Morning, we release ‘Parting Gift’. All proceeds from digital sales of the single will go to Macmillan Cancer Support (today and any future sales). Their nurses were incredible to my father and my family in his final few weeks and they do not get anywhere near the support and recognition they deserve. This is our band trying to give a little something back. Every £29 raised can fund a Macmillan nurse for an hour, and that hour will make the world of difference to someone and their family.
I lost my father to cancer, and this has been very difficult to deal with both in my own heart and for my family. Let’s do whatever we can to help find a cure for this devastating disease.”

The band’s second album, ‘In Moment // In Memory’, is out now through their own record label, // Hollow Music.
