It is with great sadness that we report legendary Rush drummer and lyricist, Neil Peart, tragically passed away on Tuesday (January 7th 2020) at the age of 67.

According to Elliott Mintz, a spokesperson for the Peart family, the cause of death was brain cancer, which Neil had been quietly battling for the past three years.

Neil Peart joined Canadian progressive rock band Rush back in 1974, just two weeks before they set out on their first tour of North America. He remained with the group throughout the remainder of their career, featuring on all nineteen of their records (save for their 1974 self-titled debut), right up until their final tour in 2015.

We here at DEAD PRESS! extend our deepest sympathies to Neil Peart‘s family, friends, and loved ones at this difficult time.
