Following recent allegations of a sexual nature being levied against Maynard James Keenan, vocalist for Tool and A Perfect Circle, the frontman has now responded to the claims that have been made.

The allegations were raised last week by an anonymous Twitter user @IWas17HeWas36, and originally came to light on Friday (June 22nd 2018) before rapidly circulating across social media earlier this week.

In a series of tweets, the anonymous party details an alleged incident that happened after an A Perfect Circle/Nine Inch Nails concert in 2000, in which they proceed to state that Keenan had allegedly raped them.

The full series of tweets that the user sent are detailed in our initial report (here).

In the article produced by Ultimate-Guitar (here), the publication states that they’ve reached out to A Perfect Circle representatives for a comment on this matter, who responded that a statement will be provided as soon as it’s available.

However, Keenan has since responded himself via a tweet from his verified personal Twitter account earlier today (June 28th 2018). You can read it below.

“Many thanks to those of you who saw right through this despicable false claim that only does damage to the #metoo movement. And shame on those of you who perpetuate this destructive clickbait. As for my delayed but un-required response, I had my phone off. You should try it.”

At the time of writing, all allegations raise against Maynard are uncorroborated and no known legal action has taken against him.

It’s uncertain whether or not A Perfect Circle representatives will still be releasing a statement to address the allegations made against Maynard.
