Kathy Griffin, the Illinois born and two-time Emmy and Grammy award-winning comedian, has recently been feeling a bit of heat following a recent photo scandal. In the photo, Griffin is pictured with what appears to be the head of the current and highly controversial US President, Donald Trump.
Members of the Trump family responded soon after Griffin posted the image via her social networks, and has reportedly received multiple death threats from members of the public. It’s also being reported that she may be facing a Secret Service investigation.
At a press conference held earlier this week (June 2nd 2017), where Griffin publicly apologised for the image, her attorney Lisa Bloom provided an introduction to the apology, during which she mentioned how unfairly Griffin is being treated.
A few moments into Bloom‘s introduction, she took to mentioning a handful of metal bands – Marilyn Manson, GWAR, and Municipal Waste – for recently depicted similarly controversial and violent images of the President and not being subject to a similar amount of a backlash, questioning why they weren’t demanded to apologise in a similar way.
You can view a short video in which Bloom calls out the aforementioned bands below:
In the above video, Bloom says, “Many male artists have created far more disturbing imagery. A Marilyn Manson music video shows him beheading a Trump figure. The band Municipal Waste has an image of Trump with a bloody gunshot to his head on a band t-shirt. The band G-W-A-R has had violent images like this of president after president for years. They’re all just considered bad boys. Unlike these male artists, Kathy apologised. Unlike these male artists, Kathy has endured the most powerful man in America and his family using their power to target her and her employers after she apologised.”
Upon seeing the video, GWAR responded via Twitter.
GWAR doesn't apologize. Ever.#kathyGriffinapology

At the time of writing, both Marilyn Manson and Municipal Waste are yet to comment.
