Cleveland, Ohio based rapper Machine Gun Kelly (often shortened to just MGK) has had several ties in with the rock community through his career, such as featuring on a Sleeping With Sirens track, and even brings in rock into his own work.
He also appeared and performed at Download Festival in Donington, UK last year alongside the likes of System Of A Down, Biffy Clyro, Aerosmith, and many others, and also released a cover of ‘Numb’ by Linkin Park as a tribute to late frontman Chester Bennington.
Recently, multi-platinum rapper Eminem referred to and called out Machine Gun Kelly on ‘Kamikaze’, his recently released surprise album. On the track ‘Not Alike’, his lyrics referring to Machine Gun Kelly read as follows.
“He wants to keep up his tough demeanor
So he does a feature, decides to team up with Nina
But next time you don’t gotta use Tech N9ne
If you wanna come at me with a sub, Machine Gun
And I’m talkin’ to you, but you already know who the fuck you are, Kelly
I don’t use sublims and sure as fuck don’t sneak-diss
But keep commenting on my daughter, Hailie…”
He also briefly refers to Machine Gun Kelly (along with many other rap artists) on another track from the record, called ‘The Ringer’.
“So finger-bang, chicken wang, MGK, Iggy ‘zae
Lil Pump, Lil Xan imitate Lil Wayne
I should aim at everybody in the game, pick a name”
Shortly off the back of this, Machine Gun Kelly has responded to these mentions and references by releasing a response diss track of his own.
The song is titled ‘Rap Devil’ – a play on Eminem‘s 2013 song ‘Rap God’ – and comes with an accompanying video which you can take a look at below.

At the time of writing, it’s uncertain as to whether or not Eminem intends to release a rebuttal diss track aimed back at Machine Gun Kelly.
However, this image of Eminem being back in the studio was posted by DJ Whoo Kid, who has worked with him in the past.
After only releasing new album ‘Kamikaze’ last week, it’s assumed that this will be for him to record a track in response to Machine Gun Kelly.
