Ian Watkins, frontman for the Welsh rock band Lostprophets, reappeared in court earlier this week (December 31st 2012) following alleged child sex offence charges, to which he has now been remanded in custody until his next summoning on March 11th 2013.
During his appearance at Cardiff Crown Court via video link, Ian Watkins spoke only to give his name at the hearing, which lasted 10 minutes. The singer was remanded in custody over the Christmas period along with two other women, both of which also face charges relating to child sex allegations. All three defendants have been remanded further in custody, with a plea and case management hearing scheduled for March 11th 2013.
As well as being charged with conspiring to rape a child under the age of 13, Watkins faces five other alleged sex abuse charges. These include conspiring to engage in sexual activity with two young children as well as making, downloading and distributing child pornography and accessing “extreme pornography”.
More news and information regarding this story will be unveiled as it develops. During this difficult time for the Watkins family, his bandmates and all else involved in the case, we urge readers to keep an open mind and to not jump to conclusions until a definitive verdict has been given.
