Former Lostprophets frontman Ian Watkins appeared in Leeds Crown Court earlier today (March 12th 2019) facing a charge of possession of an unauthorised item in prison last year.
Watkins appeared in the court via a video link from the high-security HM Prison Wakefield with the charge of illegally possessing a phone in his prison cell between the period of March 4th to March 10th of last year, for which he pleaded not guilty.
The 41-year-old disgraced vocalist from Pontypridd, Wales is scheduled to stand trial for the charge on August 5th 2019.
Watkins is currently serving a 29 year sentence for various child sex related crimes, with eligibility to apply for parole after serving two thirds of his prison term, followed by six years of supervised release (here), having been found guilty on December 18th 2013.
On October 9th 2017, he was also accused of attempting to groom a young mother from prison (here).
