Building up to the release of their new studio record, ‘Mental Knife’, progressive post-hardcore unit Hail The Sun have now shared the video for their new song, ‘The Stranger In Our Pictures’.

The video, both written and directed by Michael-Rex Carbonell, is a bit arty in nature, and more or less sticks to the stop-motion technique throughout.

However, the song and video itself carries a less care-free story, and ties into vocalist Donovan Melero‘s overcoming addiction, and how he looks back at those days now being nine years into sobriety.

Speaking about this single/video, Donovan Melero added.

“When we were tracking this song in the studio, Rex was staying with us in Echo Park, Los Angeles. He heard it, and turned to me and said ‘There has to be a video for this song. This is the one.’ It meant so much to me that he cared so much about what we were creating, and the story I was telling about my road to recovery and self – reflecting. When it came time for the video, it was a no brainer that we wanted him to create the vision he saw for it.”
