Though pop-punk kings Green Day have been a little quiet for most of 2018, having played their last show of the year back in May, it looks like they’re ready to get stuck into the thick of it again.
Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong confirmed online recently – in what appears to have been an Instagram video – that he is already deep into writing some new Green Day songs.
One fan managed to screen shot where Armstrong has said this as a comment during a live social video, which has since been shared on a Green Day fan account on Instagram.
Though there’s nothing further than this, meaning there’s no telling if this will be just a song or two or a more official release of new material, we highly suspect that this will be towards a full-length album.
Green Day aren’t known to put out EPs or stand alone singles all that often, and instead tend to opt for a more of statement over the past decade with a full-length record, including conceptual albums, rock operas, and even a triple album.
We also don’t know just how deep into the writing process the band are, but this still means that there could very possibly be some new material from them in 2019.
The forthcoming record will be their thirteenth studio album, and follow-up to 2016’s ‘Revolution Radio’.
More details will be confirmed as they develop.
