French metal giants Gojira have released a powerful new single, ‘Amazonia’, and with it have also launched a fundraising initiative for the articulation of the indigenous peoples of Brazil.

The new track is the second single to be released from the band’s highly anticipated seventh album, ‘Fortitude’, which comes out next month.

‘Amazonia’ and its accompanying video conveys the message of the Brazilian crisis impacting the Amazon and its indigenous communities. Proceeds from the song will benefit The Articulation of Indigenous Peoples of Brazil (APIB), who advocate for the environmental and cultural rights of indigenous tribes in the Amazon who have suffered immensely – victims of deforestation, land loss, forced labour, violence, and harassment.

Speaking about ‘Amazonia’ and the fundraiser, vocalist/guitarist Joe Duplantier had this to say.

“This is a call for Unity. The music community can be powerful when united towards something meaningful like this! So many friends, great artists, bands have joined the movement without hesitation by donating instruments. This is a collective effort from so many people around us!”

Alongside the new track, Gojira have also unveiled two fundraiser initiatives to raise money for indigenous-owned NGO APIB, including a month-long charitable campaign that will see the band auction of one-of-a-kind items.

The auction includes items such as Duplantier‘s signature guitar, hand-engraved by the vocalist/guitarist with artwork celebrating Amazonian wildlife, a hand-engraved Nash Guitars bass from Metallica’s Robert Trujillo and his artist wife Chloe Trujillo, a signed exclusive photo print from Lamb of God‘s Randy Blythe, and more, with new items added each week across the month. You can check out the auction for yourself here.

The group are also selling a limited edition art print to benefit the APIB, where the first 500 fans who purchase the print will have their names added to the final design. You can purchase the print here.
