After half a decade as part of Marilyn Manson‘s touring band, drummer Gil Sharone has decided to step down from the group to allow him time to “pursue other current and future projects.”

Sharone announced his immediate departure from the group in a short statement issued via his Instagram account.

“After five amazing years playing drums for Marilyn Manson, I’ve decided to leave the band. It’s been one of the highlights of my career but it’s time for me to pursue other current and future projects. Much love to Marilyn Manson and the homies I shared the stage with; Jeordie White, Tyler Bates, Paul Wiley, Juan Alderete, and to the fans. It’s been a blast.”

Sharone joined the band back in 2014 and has performed on their last two full-length albums, 2015’s ‘The Pale Emperor’ and 2017’s ‘Heaven Upside Down’.

He is also currently a member of both Stolen Babies and Team Sleep.

Manson is expected to release his eleventh album later this year, though it’s uncertain whether or not Sharone performed on it at this stage.
