It seems that 2017 has been one hell of a year for Southampton gothic punk rockers, Creeper, but it’s not over yet. As a continuation of the concept and story that surrounds and runs through their critically acclaimed debut full-length album, ‘Eternity, In Your Arms’, it appears that the band will be expanding it with the release of a novel.
‘The Last Days Of James Scythe’, the mystery story – aptly titled as such as it surrounds one of the album concept’s most prominent characters, James Scythe – revolves around two paranormal happenings taking place throughout the band’s hometown. One of which is that of The Callous Heart, an eternally young gang that stalks the city’s streets, donned with dark clothing displaying The Callous Heart (i.e. the Creeper logo), and the other is of The Stranger, a large cloaked figure who has been seen throughout the city and has been known to haunt dreams and to appear to those experiencing sleep paralysis.
Written by Lilly Banning, the blurb accompanying the novel reads, “What you are about to read is confidential. One of the Ombudsman of the Preternatural’s former Special Agents went missing in 2015 and it’s time to answer the question that the authorities have ignored: what happened to James Scythe? Many have tried to follow the unnatural and unsettling story of Southampton’s prolific mystery but no one has been granted full access to the official James Scythe case files to piece together exactly what happened to him in his last days.
Lilly will be back with her findings shortly. We trust you will keep this between us.”
Released on November 30th 2017 via publishers 404 Ink, you can pre-order ‘The Last Days Of James Scythe’ online now (here).
