NEWS: Code Orange fan inflicted with broken jaw at Salt Lake City show!

Whilst at the band’s recent show in Salt Lake City, Utah (January 21st 2017), Code Orange fan Emily Jane Hoffman suffered a broken jaw and brain bleeding after being “round house kicked” in the face by a fellow member of the crowd, yet to be identified, who was allegedly wearing steel toe boots.

In a post shared by Hoffman a few days following the incident, she explained that the perpetrator, “hit my jaw so hard that it moved the entire thing to one side breaking it in two places on each side.” She continued to explain her injury, “My right side of my jaw was no longer connected to my skull or muscle, it was still in my face because of my skin.”

You can read the full statement shared by Hoffman on Facebook below:

Upon being hit, Hoffman was immediately knocked unconscious, and was then taken to the hospital and into emergency care. After the bleeding stopped and her pain was subdued, she was taken into the Ortho/Trauma ICU. After two more days, she had a 6 hour reconstructive surgery, implanting 4 metal plates to reconnect her jaw to he face, following which it was discovered that her jaw was hit so hard on one side that it broke the other side free from the muscle tissue, and the only thing keeping in her face was her skin. She spent a total of 6 days in the ICU and will have 3 month recovery.

Earlier today, Code Orange also made a short statement of their own regarding the incident, and extending their support to Hoffman during her recovery. You can read it below:

The band also made a recent announcement onstage related to the incident, a video of which you can view below:

Those who wish to help out Hoffman, who will be unable to work through the initial stages of her recovery to fund towards the medical costs, can do so by donating via the GoFundMe page set up for her following this incident (here).

More news surrounding Hoffman‘s recovery and/or developments in the incident, such as identifying the perpetrator, will be confirmed and announced as and when it comes to light.

We here at DEAD PRESS! wish Emily Hoffman a swift and full recovery, and wish to remind everyone to be mindful and aware of both yourself and others whenever you attend a show or festival.
