After serving eight years with the band, San Diego based deathgrind/death metal outfit Cattle Decapitation have now parted ways with their bassist, Derek Engemann. The news comes ahead of the band’s headline tour across Australia next month, and was confirmed by Engemann himself.
In the statement made by the now former bass player, which was published by Engemann via his official Facebook profile, he explains that he has “amicably parted ways” with the band, and that he intends to focus on his other project Scour, and his recently reformed other band, Cast The Stone.
You can read Engemann‘s full statement below.
“It’s been a great journey, but I’m writing to let everyone know I have amicably parted ways with Cattle Decapitation. I’m very proud of the success we achieved together across the last two albums. In turn, I’m excited to focus my energy on the next upcoming Scour release, my reignited project Cast the Stone (HUGE news in the coming days), and the other big plans I have in the works. Thank you to everyone for the support, and I’ll see you at NAMM!”
It is expected that Cattle Decapitation will be releasing their eighth studio album and follow-up to 2015’s ‘The Anthropocene Extinction’ before the year is over.
More news surrounding forthcoming release plans for all aforementioned acts will be confirmed as they develop.
