Iron Maiden vocalist and music legend Bruce Dickinson has announced that he will be releasing his memoir later this year.
The book, entitled ‘What Does This Button Do?’ is a selection of accounts from his time on the road during The Book Of Souls world tour, where the band played over 117 shows to 39 countries.
Check out the cover for the book below:
Bruce has an eclectic background. Aside from singing for the band for 30 years, he has been an airline pilot and captain, a beer brewer for Trooper Beer, a motivational speaker, a film scriptwriter, a novelist, TV actor, radio presenter and championship fencer. It is likely the book will include all of this in great detail.
It is also hoped that the book will recount the early days of Iron Maiden, Bruce’s childhood, his time as a solo artist, his dream of becoming a pilot, and his most recent battle with tongue cancer.
Jack Fogg, who negotiated the rights, stated about the upcoming release:
There’s no one like Bruce. Which other rock musician can fly a 747, or fence at an international level? He’s a total one-off; engaging, funny, warm, self-deprecating — a British eccentric in its very best form. His book will be outstanding and I am so delighted we get to publish it and work with him.
Denise Oswald, senior editor at Harper Collins US said:
Bruce Dickinson might quite literally be the world’s most interesting man. He’s a true Renaissance man, and being one of the greatest rock singers of all time is merely the beginning. His memoir, like his voice, is sure to set a new gold standard and we’re thrilled to be working with him on it.
‘What Does This Button Do?’ will be released on October 19th 2017 and is available for pre-order now.
The frontman also looks set to do a book tour around the time of its release, but so far no dates have been announced.
