British rockers Brightlight City have regrettably announced their plans to break up following what will be their final live shows this month.
The decision to call it a day comes after ten years of performing together as a band, and follows the release of their latest LP ‘The Harmony & The Chaos’ back in July.
You can read the band’s full statement on the break-up below.
“So, here it is. Usually these types of announcements start off with, “It is with heavy hearts that…” but that would be a lie. It is with a smile, a wink and a heart full of love that we announce the end of Brightlight City.
Brightlight City has been a band for over 10 years, but has only really been a band since we felt our line-up and sound was complete when Tom joined. We even scrapped AN ENTIRE album back in 2016 because it wasn’t who we were.
You see, when you play in a band, you are constantly learning and evolving. Finding that perfect sound that fits what you are about collectively. This means that everything you have done before becomes irrelevant, but it still has your name attached to it and there are still expectations as to how your music will sound.
I guess what we’re trying to say is, Brightlight City is no longer who we are, whilst the latter stuff is something that we will always love, we can’t continue.
We have achieved so much, met so many wonderful people, had some unforgettable experiences, but now it’s time for the next chapter. This isn’t goodbye. It’s see you soon…
Please join us for our final ever show as Brightlight City on 7th December at The London Stone in Staines. But don’t worry, our next chapter will start sometime in 2020 ?
