Ever since they started releasing merchandise and images throughout the better part of last year, reading the dates 2000-2018, it’s been widely assumed and expected that highly revered and emotive rockers Brand New will be bringing the band to a complete close come the end of next year, and resulting in this year’s ‘Science Fiction’ being their final full-length record.
Despite being forever cryptic, meaning that we haven’t actually had an official and explicit confirmation that they will be calling it a day by the end of next year, Brand New have finally confirmed our looming concerns that were unfortunately true – the band will be no more come the end of 2018.
At a recent show over on their current tour across North America, frontman Jesse Lacey took to the microphone, in which he said “we’re gonna be a band for about 14 more months, so thank you so much for being here tonight” before continuing on with their set.
A fan-shot video of this happening can be viewed via a tweet they posted below.
