With their sets at this year’s Reading & Leeds Festival coming up fast, Harrogate hardcore outfit Blood Youth have just began ushering in their next chapter with a brand new song, titled ‘Starve’.
The track acts as the band’s first offering of new material since last year’s debut full-length ‘Beyond Repair’, and also the first since they introduced Matt Hollinson into the group as their new full-time bassist.
Frontman Kaya Tarsus explains more about the song’s meaning and its video.
“Life isn’t always a fairy tale and you can end up trapped in a very unhealthy mindset. I wrote the lyrics when I was going through a bad time, and it felt like I was in a nightmare. It’s a very intense and emotional song, so we really wanted all of this to come out in the video. We wanted people to feel uncomfortable, almost as if they are watching a horror movie.”

The band’s debut studio album, ‘Beyond Repair’, is out now through Rude Records.
