With their yet-to-be-titled sophomore full-length album waiting to pounce down our ears, a record that we tipped as one of our most eagerly awaited for 2018 earlier this year, Black Peaks are already making moves into claiming this year for their own by confirming to be the latest signees to Rise Records.
Talking of the signing, Rise Records‘ label and marketing manager Clare Maxwell said, “We have been fans of Black Peaks for a long time, and are so excited to have them join the Rise Records family.”
Along with news of the signing, the band have also unveiled a brand new single in ‘Can’t Sleep’ – their first on their new label home – along with an accompanying video for the release.
Initially premiering on the BBC Radio 1 Rock Show, you can stream and watch the video for ‘Can’t Sleep’ below.
Speaking about the song, vocalist ‘Will Gardner’ shares, “Since writing ‘Statues’, our political environment has seen a big shift, and some extremely xenophobic and racist comments and actions have been aired in the media, at whom a lot of the anger and fire in these lyrics is directed. Whatever your view is politically, this song deals anxiety, paranoia, and insomnia, all stemming from being swept along with a decision you do not agree with.”
More details surrounding the band’s forthcoming second album will be confirmed over the coming weeks.
