Mammoth sized and stadium filling Scottish rockers Biffy Clyro just never seem to stop. Not long after releasing their last full-length record ‘Ellipsis’ back in 2016, the trio have been on the road pretty much constantly, their last show to date being Minnesota just a few weeks back.
It seems with a new year things with Biffy Clyro thankfully aren’t changing. In a recent interview with Kerrang! magazine, the rockers confirmed that they plan to release not one, but two full-length records before 2018 comes to an end.
One of the two records will come in the form of the soundtrack to a forthcoming and yet-to-be-titled movie. In the interview, frontman Simon Neil says, “One is for a movie directed by Jamie Adams, based around the songs on an album we’re making. Unfortunately, timing-wise this has impacted our ‘Ellipsis’ companion record, because there aren’t enough days in the year! The film will be named after the record and will share some dialogue and lyrics. The record will influence the film and then feed back to the music. It’s an unusual way to make a record, and that’s why I’m buzzing about it – it’s a different way to feel inspired. It will be out later in 2018, and then it’ll be Biffy opus eight!”
As for the second of the two planned records, this is said to be the proper studio follow-up to the aforementioned studio album ‘Ellipsis’, which became the band’s highest charting record to date, hitting the #1 chart spot in the UK, Scotland, Ireland, Germany, and Switzerland.
More details surrounding both forthcoming records from the band will be confirmed as and when they develop.
