Rise Records have just announced that St. Louis pop-rock duo Ashland have becoming the latest act to join the label’s growing roster, home to Mayday Parade, Issues, and more.
Going for an ambitious approach from the moment they’ve signed up, Ashland have also released a visual accompaniment for the entirety of their brand new three-track EP, ‘misc’.
Speaking on the idea of putting together the visual version of the EP, the band had this to say.
“Instead of doing individual music videos, we decided to bring misc to life by creating an entire world around it. The videos tell the story of a woman trying to escape from the hold of an authoritarian government that sees her strength and wisdom as a threat. The songs were inspired by real life struggles that many of us face every day such as depression, anxiety, abuse, and discrimination. So it was important that the videos conveyed a message of courage and hope within a creative visual element.”
You can take a look at the three-track long video for the entire EP below.
