Chicago punks Alkaline Trio have come out of nowhere with a surprise release of a 3-track EP, which is aptly and simply named ‘E.P.’.

It comes in the wake of their cancelled US tour as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, so explains frontman Matt Skiba.

“With the tour postponed and the current state of the world, we feel and hope that some new music will help people transcend the uncertainty and possible fear they might be feeling, if even for a few minutes. Music has always had a way of helping us all cope with unpleasant times. We can only hope that ours can do the same for our fans on some level. We hope you enjoy the songs.”

‘E.P.’ can be streamed in full online now, but a physical version of it has also been made available as a limited edition 7″ vinyl, limited to a 1,000 blue variant in the US and 500 red in Europe.

You can take a look at the cover artwork and full track listing below.
