My Dream Festival: Comeback Kid

After a long cold winter, it’s time to start thinking about festival season! And as always, this year kicks off with Slam Dunk Festival. The event takes place on Bank Holiday weekend at the end of May, and will once again be held one day after the other in Leeds, Hatfield, and Birmingham. At the helm this year sees Good Charlotte and Jimmy Eat World battling it out for the headline slot with Goldfinger, Every Time I Die and State Champs being just some of the big highlights.

As we miss the summer delight of festivals so much, we’ve grabbed a whole bunch of bands playing Slam Dunk this year to talk us through what would make up their dream festival, from location to bands and food. Canadian hardcore punks Comeback Kid released their sixth full length ‘Outsider’ last year and are preparing for a year of touring Europe and Australia. The band spared us a few minutes to talk about what their ideal festival setting would consist of.

COMEBACK KID

Where would your dream festival be held?
Comeback Kid: Let’s say Brazil because I know it would be a wild style there.

What would the theme be?
Comeback Kid: I wouldn’t mind keeping it as a punk / HC festival with a few headliners like Hatebreed, Bad Religion, Gorilla Biscuits, Quicksand, and Pennywise. That way CBK could get a nice slot, not too early.

Who would play? Who else would be on the line-up?
Comeback Kid: We’d have No Warning, Madball, Cro Mags (either version), Culture Abuse, Angel Du$t, Broken Teeth, Worst, and Higher Power on the bill as well probably.

What food and booze would be served?
Comeback Kid: If I get to pick this rider wise, I’d say – all Churrasco (Brazilian BB), but there would also be a huge salad bar for veggies and non-veggies alike. Maybe some black and normal Caipihirina, as well as the normal rider booze and a plethora of fruit juices, gassed and still aqua. And ICE of course!

What extra non-music related entertainment would there be?
Comeback Kid: Cirque du Soleil kinda stuff; wrestling and dancing could be involved but I don’t know if I’d be heading to that.
