We’re putting the spotlight on the hottest and most exciting new bands around with our Introducing feature, ready to highlight the artists with the biggest potential to make an impact on their scene.
Formerly known as Faux, wavebye are here with new music under their new moniker and are excited for what 2019 will bring the Southampton pop rockers. Frontman Finlay Male has said of the fresh start, “We started the band Faux as a group of friends writing emo/pop-rock with the simple goal of having fun while feeling creatively content. Our years together formed a strong passion and belief in our ability to create a unique sound that we feel was no longer fairly represented by Faux and our name should evolve with us”. We caught up with Fin to find out about wavebye.

WHAT THE BAND SAY:
DP!: How would you describe yourselves to someone who has never heard wavebye before?
Fin : Pop rock inspired indie, with big emo choruses.
DP!: How did the band form?
Fin: James, Daly and I were previously in a band called Faux that had naturally started to lean away from the Alt-Rock genre, so we all felt it was time to start fresh rather than drastically change our sound. We met Jordan through the Southampton music scene, and he was really into the new sound from some demos we had kicking about so things naturally progressed from there.
DP!: What plans do you have for the future?
Fin: We plan to travel across the world playing our music and seeing new faces while making friends along the way. That’s what it’s all about. Having fun and having the best time.
DP!: Which new bands are you listening to right now?
Fin Touring, lots more audio and visual content, merch and we have some really interesting ideas floating around which i can’t elaborate on just yet but yeah, really excited for them to come to fruition.
DP!: Which bands do you aspire to and why?
Fin: I’m going to go ahead and say a couple of bands from our home town Southampton, both of which i discovered through our absolute diamond in the rough that is The Joiners. Family Man, think Muse crossed with Royal Blood with a bit of Radiohead chucked in for good measure and last but by no means least BASH, pop/rock done right! So many good groves an absolute vibe!
wavebye‘s new single ‘Sugar’ is out now and you can listen to it on Spotify here.
