We’re putting the spotlight on the hottest and most exciting new bands around with our Introducing feature, ready to highlight the artists with the biggest potential to make an impact on their scene.

Alt rock/post-hardcore four-piece Pale have a strong focus on heartbreak for their debut single ‘Absence’. Frontman Reece Banks explains “The whole concept was to capture as much emotion as we could in a literal and metaphorical sense. This stemmed all the way from the drone-like ambience within the instrumental, down to the lyrical content and the imagery. The main goal is to connect with the listener and viewer, as what we write about is exactly the way that we feel, along with so many other people”.

We caught up with the band to talk about their origins and what the future holds.

DP!: How would you describe yourselves to someone who has never heard Pale before?
Pale: We would really like people to go and listen to ‘Absence’ and decide for themselves. We would like our music to speak for us.

DP!: How did the band form?
Pale: We had all worked together in various bands and projects over the last three or four years prior to forming Pale. We all shared the same desire to create something personal and unique to us but at the same time relate to so many others.

DP!: What plans do you have for the future?
Pale: At this moment in time, we plan to expand upon the themes that we touched on in ‘Absence’.

DP!: Which new bands are you listening to right now?
Pale: We’ve created a Spotify playlist so people can stay up to date with what we’re listening to and what inspires us, for example, Thousand below, Turnover, and Hammock.

DP!: Which bands do you aspire to and why?
Pale: We tend to find our inspiration in life and things around us more than aspiring to be like an artist in particular.

DP!: What’s the stand-out moment in your career so far?
Pale: Having only been a band for a month now and reaching 25,000+ views on YouTube.

DP!: Where do you want to be a year from now?
Pale: I think we share the same sentiment as everyone else at the moment and would love to be back on stage.
