We’re putting the spotlight on the hottest and most exciting new bands around with our Introducing feature, ready to highlight the artists with the biggest potential to make an impact on their scene.

Newcastle metalcore quintet October Ends are dropping singles like nobody’s business as they gear up for the release of the their upcoming album ‘Zodiac’, which we’ll be able to hear before the end of the year. New track ‘Rogues’ showcases the hard-hitting electro-rock that pushes the genre boundaries with melodic choruses and destructive riffs.

We had a quick chat with vocalist Nick Mavromatis to talk about the origins and future of the band.

Newcastle, UK

Crossfaith / Eskimo Callboy / Crystal Lake

DP!: How would you describe yourselves to someone who has never heard October Ends before?
Nick Mavromatis: I’d say October Ends is a mix of contemporary rock/metal with elements from an array of musical genres like alternative, punk, pop, EDM, r&b and trap. From heavy riffage, breakdowns and aggressive screams to ambient, chill soundscapes, melodic passages and catchy clean vocals.

DP!: How did the band form?
NM: John had already formed the band known as October Ends when George found out that the position for the vocalist was still open. After George’s auditions and after James’ departure the band approached Michael to be their new guitarist when they found his YouTube channel. After the band’s first single release, ‘Faith In Me’, Arva found the band on a Facebook ad. He approached the band but didn’t join October Ends until a year later, once he had moved from Greece to the UK. After the release of our first EP and during the writing process of our debut album we felt like our music would benefit from the addition of spicier clean vocals. That’s when Arva suggested that Nick should join the band. 2 months later Nick was moving to the UK to form October Ends’ current line up!

DP!: What plans do you have for the future?
NM: We are about to release our debut album ‘Zodiac’ along with some sick cover songs, music videos and even new singles!

DP!: Which new bands are you listening to right now?
NM: Bring Me the Horizon, Blessthefall, Lost in Separation.

DP!: Which bands do you aspire to and why?
NM: We’d probably name 2 of them for very different reasons. Periphery have gotta be the first one and that’s because they are a very independent band in many ways. They don’t have a main goal to just satisfy their fans, but rather to make music that will satisfy their own taste and standards. Also recording and producing their own music by themselves is something we look up to, but most importantly they’ve been launched their own label lately from which they release all their stuff and music from everyone’s solo projects!
Second band would be Bring Me The Horizon for the fact that they went from deathcore to a whole new electronic pop-rock genre, and progressively became one the biggest metal bands ever.

DP!: What’s the stand out moment in your career so far?
NM: I would probably say one of the London gigs with Crystal Lake. The crowd went mad and the atmosphere was amazing!
