WHAT THE BAND SAY:
DP!: How would you describe yourselves to someone who has never heard Counterpoint before?
Counterpoint: Put some early 00’s bands through a modern production desk and you’ve pretty much got us, big heavy power chord riffs and bouncy choruses.
DP!: How did the band form?
Counterpoint: We were just all really looking to make the same kind of sound, you have your really heavy bands like Traitors and Thy Art Is Murder but you have poppier bands like Seaway and Neck Deep. No one was punching that middle ground, where you can sing and mosh! So, we decided to do it for you!
DP!: What plans do you have for the future?
Counterpoint: Our brand new EP ‘If Not Now, When?’ is released on FEBRUARY 9TH! We start work on getting that to as many people as humanly possible.
DP!: Which new bands are you listening to right now?
Counterpoint: The level of bands in the north recently is absolutely crazy, Citadels, Death Blooms, God Complex, From Inside, they’re all absolutely smashing it.
DP!: Which bands do you aspire to and why?
Counterpoint: We’ve always had a special place in our hearts for Enter Shikari just because they’ve took on the music giants by themselves and made a name for themselves out of sheer will power, similarly to While She Sleeps, I mean there are a lot of bands that make more money I’m sure, but it’s bands willing to take on that burden to fulfill what they want to sound like that are gonna change everything.
DP!: What’s the stand out moment in your career so far?
Counterpoint: Supporting Crazy Town, being asked for a photograph by a stranger and breaking into the Power Rangers theme song when 5 fully clad power rangers stormed into one of our shows!
