INTRODUCING: After Smoke Clears

We’re putting the spotlight on the hottest and most exciting new bands around with our Introducing feature, ready to highlight the artists with the biggest potential to make an impact on their scene.

London based 4-piece After Smoke Clears have just released their relentlessly aggressive and high adrenaline ‘Rapacious’ as the first of a 3-part music video depicting the demise of the human race. Part 1 focuses on greed, over indulgence of objects, brands as false idols, and consumerism.

The single is taken from their upcoming debut album ‘Edification’ that hits shelves and ears in November. We caught up with the band to talk about their origins and the future.

London, UK

Lamb Of God / Meshuggah / Gojira

DP!: How would you describe yourselves to someone who has never heard After Smoke Clears before?
Unapologetic, relentless, energising. A fusion of groove and nu metal.

DP!: How did the band form?
After Smoke Clears: The band was founded by Ale and former guitarist Dan in 2017 and Aaron, Nick and Dave followed shortly after. Each new member was found on Gumtree. The rest, as they say, is history.

DP!: What plans do you have for the future?
After Smoke Clears: We have 2 singles left to release before our album launch on 12th November. Our next single drops on 22nd October. We are fully focussed right now on promoting the album before release day. After that, we will begin writing and hopefully play shows from next year, global pandemic permitting.

DP!: Which new bands are you listening to right now?
After Smoke Clears: Ursus, God Complex

DP!: Which bands do you aspire to and why?
After Smoke Clears: We have a lot of respect for Bring Me The Horizon, a great example of band who have gained huge success by not being afraid to change their sound. Also heavyweights like Machine Head, Lamb of God and Meshuggah who stay at the top of the game by consistently creating and touring.

DP!: What’s the stand out moment in your career so far?
After Smoke Clears: Our best show was playing Facedown 2019 to a packed house. We hope to play their again one day.
