INTERVIEW: The Plot In You (08/05/2018)

Having recently signed with Fearless Records, Ohio’s own The Plot In You put out their most recent effort ‘Dispose’ back in February, and since then they have been following a gruelling tour schedule that’s exhausting just to look at.

We had a quick chat with the (very tired) band backstage at the London date of their recent UK tour with We Came As Romans to talk about their new record ‘Dispose’, and to see how they’re getting on.

DP!: How’s the tour going?
J: The shows have been great! We’re all brain dead, though. We’ve been on tour for two and a half months. We’ve only got four or five more shows left.

DP!: Any shows that you’re particularly looking forward to?
E: Tonight!
L: We’ve been really excited for London.

DP!: How do European crowds differ to US crowds?
M: There’s a lot more head nodding, rather than moving…
J: We’re still figuring it out over here!
M: They’re a lot more chill here.

DP!: So, you released ‘Dispose’ back in February, how does it feel to finally have that out?
L: Sick. We’ve been sitting on the record for almost a year, so it’s nice to finally be playing it live and not having to play so many old songs. It’s been really cool. We recorded it and had to wait about a year to put it out, so it’s been a long time coming.

DP!: Why all the capitals?! (referring to the album’s song titles)
L: Hahaha, I don’t actually know!
E: There was no specific reason.
J: We were just trying to be cool!

DP!: What made you want to lead with ‘Feel Nothing’?
J: It just felt like the right song, like it made a nice bridge between the last record and this one.

DP!: What was it like to sign with Fearless Records and be amongst so many big names?
L: Awesome! We literally have nothing bad to say about them. Anything we need, they help us do it, there’s endless support. We’ve never had a good experience with a record label before really – well, we’ve had mediocre ones, but not great ones – so it’s nice to finally have that.

DP!: Are there any songs you’re really looking forward to playing live?
J: I think we all really like ‘Feel Nothing’.
E: Yeah, safe to say that one.
M: Any of the new stuff!

DP!: What’s next for you guys?
L: We have some more touring coming up at the end of the year.
J: It’s gonna be a very busy year!
