A bit of pop-punk and pop-rock can go no wrong, whether that be because you’re a general fan of the bands you choose to listen to when you’re in that mood, or if it’s just a bit of a guilty pleasure. There’s usually not too much to take from it though, and often one band can be mistaken for a dozen others due to so many similarities.
One of the newest spawnings of the genre is Rocky Loves Emily, and from what can be found on their debut ‘American Dream’ this 6-piece are just yet another band that’ll soon fall into the ever growing stratosphere of wannabes that didn’t have the potential of survival. There’s nothing new or different here in any aspect that sticks their head above in the ever rising sea. Undoubtedly their songs of love and relationships that never quite formed and/or worked will make teen hearts throbs, and along with their choice of looks this is almost unavoidable.
But those looking for a nice and refreshing pop-punk/pop-rock act to switch on at parties or during the summer months, keep sifting through. You’re bound to find something with more substance and longevity in your stereo elsewhere.
