Sometimes to make the perfect meal, you have to do a bit of leg work. Acquiring all the unique ingredients from various different speciality shops, all of which are scattered over a large area before you even make the damn thing. It’s a huge ordeal. But, after all that blood, sweat and tears, the end product tastes so much better because of all the extra work you put into it. This is obviously a metaphor for Red Seas Fire.
Scattered across the country, from Harrogate in Yorkshire, down to the Avon-side city of Bristol, these four spectacularly talented young men have come together to form the technical monolithic masterpiece that is Red Seas Fire. Their latest EP, ‘Resolution’, is just one of many releases from the last few years that stands as a shining example that practice makes perfect. Packed with colossal industrial riffs and post-hardcore/metalcore-esque hooks, any metalhead will find something to like here.
Even though there’s a noticeable post-production presence on all aspects of the EP, the music could easy stand on its own two feet without enchantment. Their gargantuan, wonderfully technical and devastatingly heavy riffs coupled with the unrelenting, ruthless rhythm throughout are truly commendable and worthy of your attention. This EP is simply phenomenal, with each song packing a suckerpunch that will cause you to buckle at the knees. Perhaps the vocals are a tad Americanised in places, but other than that, ‘Resolution’ is a flawless effort.
