London metalcore mob Death Remains are back with their brand new record ‘Destroy/Rebuild’ and have brought with them a whole load of inspirations; everything from August Burns Red to Killswitch Engage is covered and even the likes of Korn and Deftones are thrown in. But don’t listen to us – we got each member of the band to pick just one record that inspired them into the band they are today.
BLINK-182 – BLINK-182
As chosen by Spencer (Drums)
If I had to listen to one record for the rest of my life it would be Blink-182‘s self-titled record. That album is, in my eyes, the best album ever made. It has it all from heavy elements to the softest of soft sections. The musicianship is incredible and it’s just an all-round jammy album. Anything Tom, Mark and Travis make is gold dust.
KILLSWITCH ENGAGE – ALIVE OR JUST BREATHING
As chosen by Barry (Vocals)
Best album ever made and it’s the reason I picked up a microphone and started a band. None of this would have happened to me if not for that record. Even now the album is timeless and still hits me hard.
INME – OVERGROWN EDEN
As chosen by Marc (Guitar)
For me it would be ‘Overgrown Eden’ by InMe. It was the first album that made me think about picking up a guitar, wanting to write music, start a band. Still to this day I go back to it and it reminds me of where I was in my life and what I was dealing with at the time. It’s just a really nostalgic, angsty album for me. Awesome choruses and simple yet catchy guitar riffs.
AVENGED SEVENFOLD – CITY OF EVIL
As chosen by Luke (Bass)
This album has such a variety of styles, a little bit for everyone. The album influenced me massively and it has always pushed me to push myself.
DEFTONES – WHITE PONY
As chosen by Eljay (Guitar)
The first time I heard this album I was instantly hooked it was so different to anything had ever heard. This album opened me up to music in a big way, it helped me look at music differently and encouraged me to explore different genres and music as a whole.
