Note: As only three members of the site were able to attend the festival weekend, we were sadly unable to cover every band performing throughout the day.

Extended to a full three-day weekend with just the Saturn stage not used on the Friday, the first day of musical entertainment at this year’s Sonisphere brings a bloody big attraction: The Big 4. With their first ever appearance over in the UK, the festival sure has a pretty impressive exclusive amongst the rest of the country’s festivals, and for all thrash metal fans this surely the makings of a wet dream come true.

Hosted at the grounds of Knebworth, we got involved with the Sonisphere festivities now that the event has been extended to a three-day weekend with all of its stages. The first night of bands treated us witht the first ever UK appearance of The Big 4, along with a host of many other brilliant acts. Featuring: ACODA, Rolo Tomassi, The Defiled, Protest The Hero, Young Legionnaire, Killing Joke, Decade, Black Breath, The Black Dahlia Murder, Hounds, MakethisRelate, Flats, Witchsorrow,

Rating:

So, what happens when you put the bassist from Bloc Party and singer/guitarist of The Automatic/YourCodeNameIs:Milo in a room and tell them to write an album? A beautiful, grungey, sophomoric expression of hate is amalgamated into twelve tracks of post-rock bliss, entitled ‘Crisis Works’. Hidden under the name Young Legionnaire, Paul Mullen, Gordon Moakes and drummer William Bowerman have dug a hole and filled it with 44 and a half minutes of psychedelic rock and roll goodness that the music industry has been crying out for.

Leeds eccentrics Pulled Apart By Horses have managed to make a pretty good year out of 2010.
