Not the kind of guys you’d want to meet in an alleyway in the dead of night, Whitechapel are named after the infamous area in London in which Jack the Ripper plied his trade of murdering the ladies of the night. Contrary to belief they have not descended from hell itself, but in fact Knoxville, Tennessee, the most unlikely of places for a band like this.
Following up to 2008’s ‘This Is Exile’, ‘A New Era Of Corruption’ throws you straight into the abyss of darkness, with blast beats coming out your nose and vocals which your doctor would prescribe copious to almost endless amounts of Strepsils for, this is nothing short of a visceral beating to your ear drums. Take a dose of Phil Bozeman‘s guttural growls and shrieking screams and mix it in with the intricacy of the three guitar shredding and the ultimate precision of Kevin Lane‘s drumming, and you arrive with a decent album in the mixed bag genre of deathcore.
