With the end of one year comes the start of another. It’s undeniable that 2012 was a great year for rock and alternative music as a whole, but with a quick overlook of what is to come and what bands are on the verge of rising from the underground, it seems 2013 might even surpass the previous 12 months. We have listed all of the bands we think you should keep your eyes on throughout this year so you can get in there before they become ‘uncool’ or just so you’re ahead of the pack. See into the future:

To begin with, sorry for the terrible feature name. But, with Christmas less than a month away now, we thought we’d be merry and bring you merry songs full of merriment that will make you merry about Christmas. Of course, we won’t be putting your conventional year-in year-out tunes you hear all the time. Instead, a few more alternative originals and covers. Enjoy!

Note: As only two members of the site were able to attend the festival weekend, we were sadly unable to cover every band performing throughout the day.
Following onto the second day of the 2011 Download Festival, the weather is looking better and brighter and the main stage attraction of the first ever UK performance from System Of A Down since their return from their hiatus draws in what could well be the biggest crowd of the whole weekend. With a selection of other great acts across all four stages, Saturday could definitely be the best day of the whole weekend:

Down to only two proper members due to bassist Devin Ingelido leaving a few weeks beforehand due to family commitments, alternative rock act VersaEmerge embark on their first ever headline tour of the UK in promotion of their debut record, ‘Fixed At Zero’. Prior to their Manchester show, we caught up with guitarist Blake Harnage to talk about the album, how it feels on the road without Devin, how he felt when he first read the blog post made by former drummer Anthony Martone and how Lady Gaga inspired the “vultures” tag for their fans:

Following the UK release of the debut full-length ‘Fixed At Zero’ in March, VersaEmerge have steadily been building their presence over on UK shores. Since their first visit to the country back in 2009 for Give It A Name, it didn’t take too long for them to return again, and now on their first ever UK headline tour, it’s easy to see that their occassional visits have made an impact.

Despite constantly being compared to label mates Paramore due to both bands having a female lead vocalist, VersaEmerge opt for a far more theatrical and alternative rock style of music than their peers. Steadily climbing the popularity ladder over here in the UK with their first headline tour on these shores, along with an upcoming set at Slam Dunk Festival, we got in touch with the band to talk about their shows and how they feel about their soon to come festival appearance:
